What should we know about dog nutrition?

What should we know about dog nutrition?

The food of your quadruped friend gives him a dose of energy, but must also support the correct functioning of the body and all its systems. A balanced diet should be based on optimal portions of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and other micro and macro objects.

Can we give dogs the same food we consume?

A balanced diet is the basis of the nutrition of any body, but dogs cannot eat from the food prepared for people. The teacher must follow the principles of a balanced diet and, if it does not have the necessary experience to prepare food on its own, it must buy the quadruped of high quality foods. The dog’s stomach is not adapted to the spices and the additions of digests used in the preparation of food for humans. It is absolutely not a good idea to give the dog from the food you cooked for you, because it can hurt them. It is advisable to consult a specialist when you want to create the ideal menu for your beloved.

How do we prepare dog food at home?

When preparing dog food at home, it is important to remember that the main ingredient must always be meat. This will give him a protein, without which the body cannot function normally. You can prefer, preferably, poultry meat (chicken, turkey or duck) or beef in the mixture. Many dogs also like rabbit, lamb or fish. However, some species of fish such as carp or Dorada should be avoided due to the thiamine content. Remember the fact that it is very risky to cook the meat with the bones: cooked bones can break in sharp chips and have a great danger of drowning! It is recommended to serve raw meat (according to the barf diet). To balance the diet, we can alternate the pieces of meat we choose: if we now use the chest, next time we can use the pulp, for the variety.

Carbohydrates are as important as proteins because they are an energy source. The dog’s stomach can tolerate the following types of carbohydrates: rice (white or brown), potatoes and some types of cereals. For example, oatmeal is an interesting choice. Of course, dogs have different tastes, just like humans: some like some flavors, no one else, but they can get used to the taste of carbohydrates.

The third element of the dog’s diet are vegetables, which contain fiber and minerals. Since they don’t have many calories, they don’t cause weight gain. Dogs can eat carrots, parsley, pumpkin, broccoli or even spinach. There are many vegetables that are both the tastes of the dog and the canine consumption.

Fats, such as oil (eg linen oil, salmon oil), are an ideal supplement, both healthy and delicious. Oils support digestion, contain vitamins and maintain the health and beauty of the skin and fur.

The diet should not be missing the egg, which contains macro and micro necessary elements, vitamins A and E and Biotin. The egg is also an easy protein. Lattiero -caseari products are a source of calcium, vitamins and minerals for dogs. Natural yogurt or kefir contains bacteria that have a positive effect on the digestive system. These products can be offered together with the food portion once a week.

The fruits are usually not part of the dog diet, but pieces of apple, bananas, blueberries or pears can be added. We must know that the fruits contain a lot of sugar and must be served with ex moderation. once a week.

What times a day do I have to feed my dog?

Adult dogs should eat at most 3 times a day and portions must be similar to quantity. To determine how much a part should weigh it would be preferable to consult a specialist, to calculate the weight of the dog’s activity and the specific characteristics of the breed. Among meals (eg during training, training), snacks are recommended with high meat content. It is necessary to introduce snacks with strong gradual flavors in the diet, in order not to influence the digestive system.

Although dogs love bones, they can be a danger. The sharp pieces that break from the bone can cause scratches on the sky or even the piercing of the delicate membrane of the esophagus or stomach. To satisfy the need to grind, you can choose the hooves as an alternative to classic bones.

Dogs can fight health problems or weight gain. Each diet must be created individually, personalized, to meet the specific needs of each individual quadruped. Consult the veterinarian for diet advice! Some dogs may need a special type of food or supplements to support body health.
