Thai cats, recorded as Thai, are a very interesting race due to the contradiction on the date of their origin. There are statements that would be one of the oldest breeds, together with Siamese cats. This is not entirely true. It is assumed that the Thai cats reflect the old Siamese, those before the 1950s, when they seemed quite different. Over the years, the reproduction of the Siamese and the selection of their breeders has become so restrictive and strong that a completely new race model has been created. Many people did not like this change in their appearance and therefore Thai cats were created to restore the original representatives of Siamese cats.
The initial recording of Thai cats to the felinological organization Fife took place only in 2015! So they are one of the youngest races. They were officially recognized in 2017.
Unlike current Siamese cats, Thai cats do not have an oriental appearance. They do not have a thin body and a head -shaped head. There are cats with a proportional constitution and a round skull – as well as the Siamese in the first type.
Thai cat silhouette
Thai cats belong to category IV, according to Fife. They are medium -sized and the body weight should be between 3 and 5 kg. The head is in the form of a medium -sized wedge and width. Their body is not much longer than the legs. They are strong and muscular cats, but they are not heavy. The ears are wide at the base, moderately large, with oval peaks. The eyes are the most distinctive in this breed: a deep and intense blue. The feet of these cats are moderately long, with round legs. The tail is wide at the base and slightly narrows to a rounded tip.
The fur of Thai cats is very lucid, velvety and silky to the touch. The fur is acute or subbby. A variety of fur colors is accepted: from blue to dark chocolate red. The signs appear on the muzzle, the ears, the legs and the tail. The fur closes in color with the age and season: the lower the temperature, the darker becomes.
The care of the Thai cat
Tree -tree cats are part of the breeds with short hair. The main fur layer consists of the hair hair of the pile – the thicker and longer. This breed does not have a much lower layer of fur, so their fur is not subject to deriding. It is easy to keep clean. It is a good idea to brush your cat at least once a week with a soft brush or a delicate comb. This improves the blood flow of the skin, removes fallen hair and distributes the natural sebum, giving the fur a brilliant appearance.
Without a clear recommendation by a veterinarian for a therapeutic bath, it is not recommended to bathe to Thai cats. They don’t like water, most of the time they are afraid of it and avoid.
Thai Cats Health – How long do Thai cats live?
Thai cats enjoy good health and long life. They are a breed on the original line, so they have resisted and lack genetic defects. Their average life expectancy is up to 15-20 years. However, veterinary exams, regular deworming and vaccination must be taken into consideration. In addition, like all cats of cats, Thai are subject to dehydration, which can lead to kidney disorders, such as chronic renal failure.
As are the Thai -type cats, they often have obsessive -compulsive behavior -the Pica syndrome so called -Perverse Appetite. It is characterized by sucking, chewing or consumed in excessive food objects. These include clothes, cables, ground, paper, wood, plastic. Many of these objects can be dangerous for the health or life of cats.
The diet of this breed is no different from that of other cats. Their diet should be close to natural, wet, rich in meat, with a low carbohydrate content. It is a good idea to add a little water to each portion.
Thai heads – character
Since Thai cats are a reflection of the old Siamese, they have very similar characters. They differ only for some things, including their calm. Thai cats are more calm than the Siamese, although they are equally flying. It is a breed that is for its cheerful, friendly and curious nature. They like to be the center of attention, asking for a loud voice and no careful attention from their master. They are intelligent, they quickly learn to associate facts and use these perseverance skills. Therefore, it is worth paying attention to the education of the cat from an early age and to wisely choose what you want to learn. The custodian should guide this race calmly, but firmly. They attach themselves to their custodian and enjoy spending time accompanying him in daily activities. Like Siamese, they vocalize a lot for a long time, often changing their tone and intonation. They have a dominant nature, they like to be the center of attention and do not tolerate boredom. With Thai cats, it is a good idea to hide the accessories after playing, otherwise you will have to take a new toy every week. This breed adapts quickly to new conditions.
They do not avoid heights, but they prefer to play and get on the ground. Frequent and fast jumps, however, are not too high. Their agility and musculature allow them to exercise for long periods of time.
Thai cats are clear with other species of animals, both dogs and cats. Prepared and correctly introduced for the arrival of a child in the family, they will understand each other well and in the future the comedy will be the norm. This race can resist or above their caregivers for hours. Hugs and comforts are a real delight for them!
