The domestic squirrel cannot in any case be a pet taken from its natural habitat. The common squirrel is a protected species and, otherwise, it would be difficult to tame. The most common domestic squirrel is the striped squirrel.

A corporate squirrel is one who comes from a farm and is designed to live in a residential environment. The cure of the squirrels is similar to that granted to other rodents. They are very lively, furniture and curious animals. Unfortunately, they have a slightly shorter life than the most common pets – dogs and cats – about 5-7 years.

The most popular domestic squirrel

The most widespread domestic squirrel is Burunduk, also known as striped squirrel. In his natural habitat, he lives in areas of northern Asia, northern Japan (Hokkaido) and Korea. However, they meet more and more in reproduction. What does the Siberian squirrel look like? The Siberian squirrel is a small rodent. From the average length of the body (25 cm), about 18 cm represents the tail. The weight of the animal is also small, up to 150 g. This scoriatto house has a soft fur, pleasant to the touch, color:

Preferably every day, at least for an hour. This will increase his freedom and move him. Keep in mind that a squirrel that moves through the apartment will show a lot of curiosity and begin to explore the surrounding environment. Therefore, any cracks or openings through which the squirrel could enter should be protected and any delicate ornaments that could break during its race should be hidden. In addition, it is a good idea to remove all dangerous objects from the vision, such as cosmetics, poisonous plants, cables, detergents or sharp tools.

How do you equip the cage of a squirrel of the house? First of all, you should offer a sleeping area, or even more – 2-3 nests or hiding places. There should be stairs and climbing branches. Because in nature the squirrels spend a lot of time in the lairs, it is advisable to provide them with grass nests, cork pipes where they can hide. The space should be reserved for physiological needs. In the case of the squirrels, which make their needs in one place, the problem is simple: a sandy litter or gravel is sufficient.

The bottom of the cage should be lined with sawdust, hay, coconut fibers and soil so that the animal can bathe inside. This is the base, which can be varied with many toys.

Domestic squirrels are not the best pets for houses with small children and for impatient people or for those who overwhelm them. Their accommodation requires calm, patience and time. Socialization can take up to a few months. Squirrels are usually not pets to play and embrace. They don’t like to be comforted and they prefer to live lonely. They also do not need the company of other representatives of their species. Only during the coupling season he tolerates other squirrels in their habitat. Other times, they will defend him with ferocious. There may also be bloody stools with each other. Domestic squirrels only occasionally require the company and attention.

Siberian squirrels are animals with daytime activities. This is their greatest advantage than hamsters, which are the most common rodents kept at home. These, on the other hand, have a way of night living. Those with a superficial sleep can often be awakened by a bottle. Instead, the squirrels sleep all night. During the autumn season, they can see greater aggressive behavior towards their master, which is linked to stocks in terms of food. Animals feel the pressure of winter approaching. Even if you don’t have to worry about food in a domestic environment, nature does not leave them.

In winter, on the other hand, it is a period in which domestic squirrels are much less active and occasionally leave the nest. It is unlikely that the walks around the house are necessary. Some people can fall into winter sleep and sleep for several weeks in their nest. The metabolism slows down considerably, so animals should not be disturbed in order not to wake them up.

Burunduk House Stocks is easy to nourish. These animals are almost omnivorous. Their diet should include cereals, seeds, fruit, nuts and vegetables. In addition, they will not despise animal proteins and enjoy small birds, insect larvae, such as crickets or cockroaches and even small lizards. You can also feed them with raw or cooked eggs and cooked meat (with the exception of beef and pork). In the pet market there is a very large range of mixtures made ready for rodents that can be successfully used for squirrels.

It is essential to give them access to fresh water, which must have changed every day. Liquids can be kept in a buyer hanging on the cage wall or in a bowl, if the animal has difficulty using water.

How much does a home squirrel cost?

Prices start from a few tens of Ron and can reach up to several hundred Ron. It is worth being aware of the fact that animals should be purchased only by a reliable source, so that the source of origin is documented.
