An aquarium of salted water, also known as marine aquarium, is more difficult to organize than a freshwater aquarium. The decision to keep is generally taken by expert waterristians. In addition, the agreement and administration of a marine aquarium involves a considerable financial effort.
The salted water aquarium is the dream of many waterrists. It is the most spectacular of all types of aquariums that can be kept at home. It allows the growth of species of fish, crustaceans or highly presentable and exotic corals. Find out what type of marine aquarium is necessary for a marine aquarium and how it is installed.
Salt water aquarium – Dimensions and lighting
A salted water aquarium should be considerably larger than a freshwater aquarium. Marine fish species need much more space to function properly than small fish in freshwater aquariums. In the case of a marine aquarium, the greater the lower area, the better. Smaller aquariums should have a capacity of at least 50 liters. 100 liter aquariums are a good option.
Before deciding to maintain a marine aquarium, you must consider the problem of the exposure space. It will be better to put it in a place that has not very circulated, due to the risk of damage, and at a certain distance from a window to avoid overheating and too much sunlight.
After establishing the size of the aquarium, the next step is to equip it with lighting. Choose one to provide at least 0.7 watts per liter of water. With this easy conversion relationship to -Creation you can quickly determine if the aquarium is quite bright. The distribution of light sources is also important: it should be at least two. In this way, you can easily adjust the color temperature according to the inhabitants of the aquarium.
What equipment are useful for a marine aquarium?
An important aspect is sea water. Due to the intensive development of aquariums, we no longer need to go to the sea for this. You can find sea salt for sale, which is dissolved in water. However, it is necessary to pay attention to respect the correct proportions, as specified by the manufacturer. The salt of the aquarium also contains minerals, which make up the appropriate marine microclimate. Special equipment called hydrometer is designed to evaluate the level of salinity. For a salted water aquarium, demineralized water or filtered water is required by an reverse osmosis filter. Deep water or tap water contains too many harmful compounds and could interrupt the conditions in the aquarium.
The water of a marine aquarium must have a temperature of 24-26 ° C. It is also possible to set a cold water biotope, in which the water must not exceed 17 ° C. To take care of the correct temperature level, it is better to equip you with a heater with a thermostat that will keep the heat at the right level. It is time to clean the tank. For this, a skimmer is used, which takes impurities.
What is the living rock in a salted water aquarium?
In order to give the inhabitants of the sea aquarium the best parameters of the water and a further filtration, it is recommended to cover the bottom of the aquarium with the so -called living rock. Apart from its practical properties, it is a special decorative element. The living rock is mainly a coral reef or, more precisely, a dead part of a coral reef on which new colonies of corals grow. Living Rock hosts many microorganisms that have a beneficial effect on water quality. These include in particular:
● Nitrifying and denitrifying bacteria that breaks down organic matter,
● Policchi, who are worms that eat food and debris (fine and dead biological material, waste of plants and dead animals and excrements),
● Melci, who fights algae and helps to eliminate food residues.
How much living rock must be in a marine aquarium? It is estimated that it should occupy 10-15% of the aquarium volume. This means that for every 10 liters of water there should be 1-1.5 kg of rock.
When can a salted water aquarium be popular?
In no case should animals be left immediately to enter a newly constituted salty water aquarium. The maturation time of a marine aquarium is 4 to 6 weeks. Only then can the first inhabitants be introduced. In a marine aquarium, not only fish can be maintained, but also different species of corals, starfish, colds, sponges, etc.
