Ragdoll – The characteristics of the breed

Ragdoll cats are among the largest and most mysterious domestic cats. The history of the origin of this breed is so far controversial and it deserves, without doubt, attention.

It happened in the 60s of the past in the state of California, in the United States. Ann Baker’s lover found a white car trampled on the car, which resembled an intersection between the Turkish angora and the Persian cat. Josephine, because it was called Ann, after recovering, gave birth to the chicks with the characteristic of complete muscle relaxation. When they were taken in hand, the kittens became completely inert and from here and the name of the race – Ragdoll translated from English means «fabrics». The owner of the chicks and cats therefore began to multiply this special race again, combined and crossed several copies until, in his opinion, he reached perfection. So, among the ancestors of Ragdoll’s cat, we can distinguish Burmese, Burmese and Persian cats. It is not completely clear where the first chicks and the same Ann Baker come from the story of various stories, also on the genetic code moved or also on the help of the aliens in the creation of the breed.

These cats arrived in Europe only in 1981 and 1992 were recognized by the FIFE organization.

Ragdoll – Physiognomy

Ragdoll cats are large and muscle domestic cats. The body weight of adults can reach up to 10 kg in males (usually about 8 kg) and from 4 to 6 kg in females. However, cat cats grow quite slowly and reach full physical maturity at the age of 3-4.
Due to the slightly longer rear legs of the front legs, these cats have the position of the oblique body so called – the back of their body is higher than the front. There are three models of fur in this breed: Mitted, Colourpoint, Bicolour and each model can have 10 color variants. The Mitto model appears only to the Ragdoll breed and is also called «variety with socks». The feature here is the white strip that extends from the chin at the base of the tail. Colourpoint is characterized by a visibly darker color of legs, tail, masks and ears, compared to the rest of the body. In Bicolour (two colors), however, the entire belly, legs and chest must be white.

Ragdoll Cat Care

Semi-pulmonary and silky fur of Ragdoll cats is extremely easy to take care. The fur has practically no substrate and has no tendency to tighten. The fur around the head and tail is longer.
