Rabia is considered one of the most dangerous neurological diseases. The infection is almost always fatal and the disease spreads quite easily.
The evolution of anger can take two forms: violent, also known as frenzy and paralytic, also known as silence. The latter is much more difficult to recognize. When should a dog be vaccinated against anger and what are the symptoms of this disease?
Symptoms of anger in a dog
Rabia is a disease that can practically affect all mammals, although it is more common in wild animals, including, for example, in foxes and bats. The infection occurs from the contact of the saliva of another animal affected with an open wound or a mucous membrane.
The virus usually multiplies in the muscles and therefore attacks the peripheral nerves before spreading in the brain. The disease itself, although the first symptoms usually occur no later than 7 days from the infection, can sometimes remain latent up to about 5 months.
The evolution of anger in the dog will depend on its type. There is a distinction between Francotal or violent form and the silent form, also known as latent. In the case of the violent type, the crises of anger and aggressive behavior are characteristic. However, these can be preceded by a completely different behavior, for example by hiding and avoiding people or, on the contrary, the excessive friendship of a dog that until then was not rather non -believer. During the anger phase, there is also an excessive excitability and a tendency to eat non -adjustable things, such as wood or stones. In addition, a peat dog can attack the obstacles on its path or can completely bark without reason. In the last phase, there are problems of salivation and swallowing, which lead to the formation of foam on the animal’s mouth, characteristic of the disease. In addition, the fall of the jaw and the paresis of the limbs usually occur, sometimes strabismo. Sometimes, animals at this stage and raise sounds. This is the final phase of the disease, which ends with death due to respiratory insufficiency.
In the case of the silent form of the disease, the first phase, characterized by a change of behavior, is followed by a phase of dementia.
The central phase, whose most characteristic feature is represented by anger attacks, is therefore omitted.
The vaccine against anger – When and with what frequency to vaccinate your dog?
The anti -robial vaccination is, so far, the only effective form of disease control. Dogs must receive the first dose of preparation at the latest at the age of four, although this can be done at the age of two. The injections must be repeated once a year and every time they must be recorded in the vaccination notebook. The entrance is made by a veterinarian, therefore it is advisable to ask the owner a vaccination book from a date, in the case of a bite by a foreign dog. According to the law, the animal can also be observed and, if it has not been vaccinated against anger, even a 15 -day quarantine. The person bites, on the other hand, receives a series of preventive injections.
It should be remembered that anger can also be very dangerous for humans and can lead to death unless immediate measures are taken.
Furthermore, it should not be forgotten that anger vaccination does not necessarily mean 100% protection against the disease, although it certainly reduces the risk. Even a vaccinated pet should be supervised during walks, especially when passing through areas where wild animals may be present. If you come into contact with one or you are bite from a pet, like another dog, you should immediately contact the vet and ask for its advice.
Rabia is an extremely dangerous disease you need to protect your pet. The animals that develop it are euthanous, because an effective treatment for this disease has not been invented.
