The arrangement of an aquarium is a real challenge. There is a wide range of accessories and decorations on the market and their choice is determined not only by the size of the aquarium. There is a timeless character of the natural style, also known as landscape style, in which plants, roots and well -chosen rocks play a central role.
The aquarist can be an extremely captivating passion. Creating the care and observation of a miniature underwater world is very funny, but also relaxing. To enjoy the result, it is necessary to configure the aquarium soon, because there are many possibilities.
Provision of an aquarium – Where do I start?
The arrangement of an aquarium is an important art. The arrangement and therefore its maintenance are a very difficult and responsible task. The first step in the arrangement of an aquarium is the determination of its type (fresh water or salted water). The first is used to maintain plants and fish that live in internal water bodies, for example ponds and lakes, while the second is used to create living conditions in salted water: seas and oceans. Another aspect to consider is the size of the aquarium. The provision of an aquarium of 60 L will undoubtedly be different from the provision of a 200 l aquarium and not only in terms of financial costs.
In addition, the aquarium position must be taken into consideration. It is better to place the aquarium in the darkest place in the room. A space next to the window or radiator should be avoided. So algae develops much faster.
Installation of an aquarium: what do you need?
The arrangement of an aquarium begins with the substrate. The gravel is the most commonly used, but only as a higher layer. These crushed stones are sterile and therefore do not provide any nourishing and prevent plants from rooting. A substrate under the gravel is positioned under the gravel. Usually, a layer of 2-3 cm of special substrate is applied to the bottom of the aquarium and above it 3-5 cm of gravel. The substrate must be positioned with a light slope towards the front wall. The funds located in the center of the aquarium occupy some space and can make it difficult to clean the aquarium, but give a pleasant effect. The next step is to pour water into the aquarium. Then the time comes to plant the plants. The least problematic will be those with high temperature tolerance and water parameters (for example, variegated Hypericum, rotating round leaf, java muscle, Amazon frog). The flora has an ornamental function, but also a purification: it captures carbon dioxide from water and produces oxygen.
Subsequently, the accessories are inserted in the aquarium: filter (cleaning of water from accumulated sediments, stabilizes the parameters of chemical water), heater (ensures the right temperature, which is particularly important in the case of tropical fish), lighting, pump. Add ornaments, for example stones, roots, ready -made ornaments, such as caves, trunks, imitations of coral reefs, etc. Once the aquarium has been stabilized and the charity bacterial flora has been developed, it is time to populate it. The fish are released in the aquarium after a few days or even weeks. It is also worth noting the number of fish, which depends on the size of the aquarium. It is estimated that there should be 1 liter of water for every 1 cm of fish. It is worth adding a balm that transforms tap water into a safe aquarium for fish.
The design of the aquarium – The popular natural style
The most popular aquarium design style is the natural one. There are several variations. One of these is Iwagumi, which has its origin in the art of creating Japanese stone gardens. The stones occupy a central place in the aquarium. Lunar stone, mainstone stone, dragon stone are presented magnificently. For sowing, garden plants are mainly used. The provisions of the aquarium with the stones, despite their minimalism, can prove to be really beautiful. Another variety – Ryubok – uses wood, roots and stones.
It is ideal for the reproduction of forest landscapes. The Mizube variety is very similar in terms of materials used, except for the fact that they must extend above the water level. Most of the time, the plants are those that go beyond the upper part of the aquarium. Mizube is therefore reserved only for open aquariums. The youngest variant of the natural aquarium is the Ragwork. The aim is to faithfully reproduce the mountain landscape.
