These cats owe their names to their ancestors, who come from the ancient territories of Persia (today Iran). They arrived in Europe at the beginning of the eighteenth century.

The Persian cat is one of the oldest races of cats recognized and selected in the prism of the extreme phenotype. Although the ancestors of this breed come from the territories of Persia, the current representatives of the breed do not present genetic connections with the populations of local cats.

Persian Cats – Features

Persian cats are the ideal example of how the appearance of an animal can be changed with a targeted and rigorous selection of reproduction. The contemporary Persians resemble very few aspects with their ancestors. Represented to the exhibitions since 1871, they were slender and higher, they had a shorter nose and less, longer noses and more concave orbits. They resembled Turkish angora more than the representatives of today’s race.

Currently, the representatives of the breed are of medium and large size, with the compact body, the standard body weight between 3.5 and 4 kg and up to 7 kg. The dense fur on the whole body, especially developed as a collage around the neck and stone, like a robbery, makes the cat much larger. Persana’s head is round and wide and small ears, with rounded tips. The characteristics of the breed are large, round and shallow eyes. Their color depends on the color of the fur.

As a result of the reproductive activity, over 150 chromatic versions of this breed have been created, but for exhibition purposes there is a division of 5 categories: monochromatic – solid, smoky, tigra, two colors, colorpoints.

The Persian tail is short and positioned, but very thick. The legs are short, thick and strong, with round legs. Hair chions between the fingers protected in ancient times the cushions with variations of hot sand and temperature.

The care of the Persian cat requires a lot of patience and, above all, regularity. The Persian cat has a very dense fur. The long and fine fur layer, slightly high, covers the soft substrate. Due to the fur tendency to tangles, the Persian cat requires regular treatments. Otherwise, neglecting it will lead to a very bad state, both psychic and physical. The fur should be combed every day, preferably with a metal comb with long and narrow teeth. You cannot hit and force it, because once the cat is discouraged by the hair that combs it, it will be very difficult to convince it to do it again. After each session, it is worth rewarding your animal, so that this activity is positively associated. This treatment should be performed gently, but firmly, so that the peaks of the comb can reach the skin. Only the hairstyle on the surface will make the cat beautiful, but after some time a strong felt will form on the skin. In addition, this breed brings a lot, especially in the transition seasons: the end of spring and the end of autumn. The well -fallen and healthy fur of the Persian cat is soft and light like a wedge.

When taking care, it pays particular attention to places such as: Subuzziț, inguinal and ears, where the fur is more tangled. It should be dedicated even more time to comb the tail: there the fur becomes more slowly and every standing or damaged hair can leave the fur and fur thin for a long time.

The washing of Persian cats is recommended only for the cats of the exhibition or with the express recommendation of a veterinarian. In case of another need, e.g. A lot of dirt that the cat does not manage alone, you can use a dry shampoo, it is an easier and certainly less stressful solution for both sides.

Due to very frequent and long fur, cats in this race often suffer from fur blocked in the digestive tract. Therefore, it is necessary to give the grass to the cats to be grinded and also deserve to add cats to food from time to time: it will facilitate the pilobesor movement and accelerate the intestinal peristalsis.

Due to the frequent clogging of the tear channel, the master must wash the internal corners of the eyes every day and take particular care of the eyes and the animal’s nose area.

Persian cats tend to gain weight, so it is worth choosing the right type of nutrition for your pet. Like any cat, a Persian must have well balanced, fleshy and humid meals. This will guarantee shiny fur, a healthy skin and good physical condition.

Before buying a Persian cat, it is very important to carefully check the chosen farm. It is worth asking the breeder to present the documents of the analyzes performed, the tests and their results. This is very important and reduces to a minimum in the selected kitten the risk of genetic diseases to which the breed is subject.

Among the most common diseases of people are liver and heart diseases (for example, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, patented arterial duct) and polycycistic kidneys. Due to the flattened facial skeleton, breathing problems and watery eyes also occur. On hot and warm days, be very careful with Persian cats. Their anatomical structure makes them very vulnerable to overheating, stroke and breathing difficulties. In such cases, a place in the shade must be provided and relatively fresh. The wet towels or towels positioned on the ground can be useful. Right now, you shouldn’t let these cats come out.

It happens more often in this race than in others that the kittens are born with the divided palace.

Due to the high risk of genetic diseases in the Persians, it is very important to choose a verified and appropriate farm. The breeder should have the current results of the cat analyzes and meet the future master with the parents and grandparents of the kitten. A Persian cat costs between 1,500 and 3,000 Ron, depending on the farm and variety. Record prices reach up to 5,000 Ron for a kitten.

The Persians are calm and delicate giants to play. It is considered a silent breed, which does not have the habit of a master’s attention. They are very emotional, they like Alinin and comfort. It adapts quite easily and quickly to the evolution environment, as long as they are with their famous and beloved teacher.

Persian cats are the owners of the house and aristocrats, known for their sweetness and patience. These characteristics make them understand well with children and other pets. They are a strong support for the sick, due to their empathy that they are used in the slices.

The Persian cat will feel very well at home, does not face when it is let out on its own, mainly because of the fur she attacks and clings everything. Furthermore, the Persians do not like climbing the trees – a useful activity outside, therefore they have a limited escape space in case of need. They are rather soil cats, they do not like heights, jumps and other acrobatics in the air.

It should be borne in mind that the exemplary character of this breed is described here, but each individual will be unique in his own way and we will probably not meet two identical personalities of the cat.

The reason is the genetic predisposition to develop diseases relating to intensive reproductive selection, as well as difficult to take care, which require a lot of time and dedication from the Master.
