The Retriever of Telling of New Scotland Duck owes its name. In the literal translation, it means a bait for the ducks. The new Scotland Retriever is part of the group VIII of FCI – hunting dogs, skidders and test dogs. This state better defines dog performance. The breed was recognized for the first time in America in 1945, but the dogs of the dogs in this race date back to the seventeenth century, from New Scotland, in Canada. There, the dogs were used to hunting wild birds, but not to kill the prey, but only to attract it and then bring it to the hunter.

New Scotland has been described as a unique bait for ducks and other wild birds. The Indians were happy to exploit the fact that entire flocks of curious birds suddenly appeared around a dog playing in the water. This allowed them to easily follow their goal. Nova Scotland’s bathroom is not complicated. The fur of these dogs does not capture dirt and any dirt can be easily washed, even with hot water. Due to the dense substrate, the dog should be combed weekly and during the periods of hair loss even more frequently – especially around the tail, ears and legs, where the fur tends to fall easier. The bathroom of these retrievers can be made monthly. The still wet fur must be combed with a large tooth comb and therefore combed with a brush with dense bristles.
