In 1928, he received dogs from the monks from a Tibetan temple. Five years later, a race club was established in the United Kingdom and their growth began. Within the Kennel International Federation, Lhasa APSO is classified in the dogs of the IX – Ornamental and Company group and in section 5 – Tibetan breeds. The standard number 227 was assigned to him.
