Koi Carp is an exceptionally ornamental Japanese fish, which is a unique decoration for a tin. He is also known for his friendly disposition, the intelligence and the ability to bind to his custodian, who can eat himself in his hand and can be comforted.
Why is Koi Carp popular?
Koi Carp has been raised in Japan since the eighteenth century and the reproduction is taken very seriously. As for the growth of dogs, Koi Carp has pedigree, exhibitions and prizes. During the exhibitions, the appearance, size and way in which they move in the water are assessed.
Carp Koi – Requirements
When you decide to cultivate Carpe Koi, it is important to remember that they are very large fish. There should be at least one cube meter of water for each carp. The recommended depth of the aquarium is at least 2 meters, so that the carp can winter in the lower part of the pond, where the winter will be warmer. The recommended reproduction temperature for KOI is 15-25 degrees. The pond in which you intend to grow the carp must be equipped with a UV lamp and ventilation devices, because these fish need light, clean and rich water. In addition, the pond should be planted dense with plants and the bottom should be covered with fine gravel – but without sludge!
Also, do not forget not to allow fish access in a watertight or in a newly consolidated puddle. As for the arrangement of an aquarium, the water should be silent for at least a few weeks.
Koi Carp in the Aquarium – Is it possible to grow the Japanese carp in aquariums?
Since the Koi carp needs large and deep tanks, it is possible to grow the brood in an aquarium, which must be transferred to a pond or a puddle when it reaches the desired dimensions.
What should the Koi carp be nourished?
These fish are practically omnivorous. The most convenient is to feed them with food for the Koi carp. In this way, we will be sure that we will deal optimally of the health and the beautiful aspect of the carp. Natural food is represented by the larvae of insects, snails and even plants. When they feed the carp, be careful not to overload it and if the temperature drops below 9 degrees, do not feed it at all.
Reproduction of Koi Carp
In theory, Koi’s reproduction is not difficult. It is sufficient to increase the water temperature at 20* c in June in an aquarium for adults – for at least 4 years. It is also necessary to guarantee a large enough oxygenation of the water. In practice, multiplication is rather impossible for amateur breeders.
Koi Carp – Variety
Koi Carp is a large and elongated fish, which reaches a size between 50 and 90 cm. Apparently, he recalls the wild carp. It has a very long dorsal swimmer and an opening of the mouth supplied with two mustache pairs. The feature that makes the Koi carp so unique is their colorful appendix. There are more than 100 varieties of koi carp. The different varieties differ in terms of staircase and color model.
The three main varieties are:
– the Koi base variety – completely covered with Mati stairs
– Doitsu – With smooth skin with rare stairs mirrors or a ribbon of stairs on both sides of the rear part
– Ginrin – completely covered with mirror stairs
Popular varieties are:
- White kohaku-carp with red spots, arranged at different reasons
- Tishhoku Tishhoku – White carp with a red and black motif
- SHOWA Stankhoku – Black Carp with a black and white motif
- Tancho-carpe with a red spot on the head
- BEKKKKO-white, red or yellow carp with a black motif
- White carp, yellow or orange with metal shine
Koi Carp diseases
Koi Carp is a Longeviv fish. I live on average between 30 and 50 years, but I can live up to 100 years. In order for them to enjoy a long and healthy life, the first thing you need to do is keep the pond clean. Koi Carp should not be maintained with other fish from which common diseases could contract in our climatic area and which can prove fatal for Koi’s carp.
It is advisable to consult an IHTiopathologist for any change in the skin or behavior. Cats, foxes and birds can also be a threat to Koi’s carp – therefore it is advisable to guarantee access to the pond with a mesh.
How much does the most expensive Koi carp cost in the world?
Koi Carp is considered the most expensive agricultural fish in the world. Her price, depending on the species or the pedigree, can vary from several tens of her to … several thousand of her! The most expensive carp of Koi in the world, the winner of the All Japan Koi show of 2017, is worth up to 7 million of her.
Is Koi Carp edible?
There is no objection to the preparation of the Koi carp in the same way as the classic Christmas carp, but the Koi carp has not increased for food purposes due to its ornamental and considerable price qualities.
