Older dogs often shy. Sometimes this is related to any dislocation during the walk, sometimes there is an obesity or some old bruises. All these cases are connected by one thing: the joints.
Joint diseases in dogs can have different causes. This is often related to the dog’s breed: larger, more prone to joint lesions. Another common cause is obesity – here, however, the fault is the most often of the custodian, who let this happen.
The symptoms of joint lesions are often:
·
rigidity in the joints
·
Şchiopathy or release of weight of one of the limbs
·
inflation
·
hesitation to jump or even climb the stairs
· Difficulty lifting up and visible pain and pain

1. Hormonal problems, hyperparathyroidism
2. Obesity
3. Fractures with joint lesions

6. Metabolic disorders
7. Tumors
8. Osteoartrite
9. Infectious and autoimmune diseases, including Lyme diseases and rheumatic diseases
10. Degenerative diseases of the spine, including horse’s tail syndrome and degenerative disease of the intervertebral disc
Treatment of joint disorders in dogs
The medical possibilities for the treatment of conditions such as hip dysplasia and arthrosis have increased significantly in the last decade, due to the continuous introduction and improvement of medicines and supplements. However, since the dysplasia of the hip (like other similar types of dysplasia) is an innate disease, it cannot be prevented with drugs. Osmigrite disorders can be reduced with the help of an adequate diet, adequate physical and medicinal exercises.
Maintain the correct weight of the dog
The maintenance of the right weight is essential for the treatment of non -infectious joint disorders. If the animal is obese, even the most advanced treatment will not have a 100%effect. Here it is worth noting that in Poland more and more dogs with joint disorders are overweight or obese. Losing excess pounds and maintaining the dog correctly body weight can be considered the most important in the treatment of joint disease. The most difficult part of the treatment can also be demonstrated. Often this requires the change of the owner’s lifestyle and the search for time on the agenda for intense dogs for dogs. We must also emphasize that the teacher is responsible for what the quadruped eats and in what quantities.
Exercises for the dog
Appropriate exercise is the second most important element of the treatment. The best is the physical effort that includes the correct dose of movement and exercises for the formation of muscle mass. Walking on a leash, free race, swimming, exercise on the treadmill, are excellent examples of not very demanding, but efficient efforts. The operating program must always be agreed with your orthopedist or physiotherapist and orthopedist and always be adapted to the concrete animal, because the exercises chosen badly can cause significant worsening.
The game with Catching the Ball or Frisbee seems a great fun for the dog and I carry a lot of joy, but nevertheless, it is very demanding for the joints. Regularity is also important when choosing the right exercises for the dog. The exercises must be performed every day. It is no longer possible to do with reserve during the weekend. Before the exercises, the dog must heal, which prevents lesions and prepares the joints for greater effort.
Bed for dogs and sleep conditions
Most people suffering from joint diseases notice that symptoms worsen when they are cold and wet. The same in dogs! The dog with the conditions described requires to be specifically treated. It cannot be exposed to cold and frost. A comfortable bed plays a specific role here. A good solution are orthopedic beds. Those made of special foam help to correctly distribute the body weight, therefore the joints are less burdened. In addition, the dog is easier to get up and get out of it. The bed must always be in a hot place, where it does not draw the current. In the case of joint pain, the bed should be warm and comfortable. For a walk you can use clothing clothing that will keep the heat in the sick joints. You can also maintain a slightly higher temperature in the rooms where the dog is located.
The environment
Arresting or lowering the stairs to the sick dogs is a problem. You can help him go down through special frames. For this you can use a plate or a appropriate size. In medium and large dogs you have to be careful to lift the bowl with water or food. You can install it in a special adjustable support or place above.
Physiotherapy and medical treatments in dogs
The veterinarian is often specialized in orthopedics can train the owner to massage the muscles that can prevent burning and will help you correctly move the joints. We must keep in mind that the quadrupites with arterial diseases feels pain, which is why any massage or exercise should have started slowly and the animal must be used to regular interventions. We start each session with comfort, then gently squeezing the muscles around the articulation with the tip of the fingers through small circular movements. So we extend the surface of the surrounding movements and muscles. A further heat source after massage can make further advantages.
