In the nutrition of rabbits, as in all other animals, the most important thing is to determine which specific nutrients need. Nutrients can be divided into different groups.
Indispensable nutrients in the feeding of rabbits:
Protein:
Aminoacids are used in the body to constitute most of the body structures: start with the proteins of the cell membrane and hemoglobin, up to the bones and fur. In food for mature rabbits, proteins must be about 12%. In the case of pregnancy and breastfeeding, this quantity increases to 18%and for young rabbits it must be 16%.
The amino acids in the rabbits diet also come from the night feces, which is why it is important that rabbits consume them. The insufficiency of the amino acids in the diet forces the body to obtain from other sources. In this case, they are extracted from the muscles, which leads to their weakening. The increase in protein consumption occurs during the disease, fever, hunger, trauma, pregnancy and breastfeeding. The excess of protein in the diet leads to unwanted growth of the bacterial flora in the intestine.
Carbohydrates
They are the main source of energy in all metabolic processes and are divided into simple and complex carbohydrates. Simple sugars cause a sudden increase in insulin and are quickly digested. In the rabbit diet, they are mainly found in fruit, which is why you deserve to avoid them. Complex carbohydrates are digested for a long time, then gradually release energy and do not cause a sudden secretion of insulin. The need for energy on the rabbit must be adapted to the season and physical activity of the animal. It is possible to approach the number of calories approximately, assuming that a medium -sized rabbit (about 4.5 kg) must meet the basic needs – that is, for digestion, cleaning, travel and the game – about 220 kcal per day. When making the calculation, it is always necessary to consider the thermal comfort zone, which is 20.5 – 25 ° C. apart from this temperature range, the dose must be modified. Carbohydrates should provide about 50% of calories. Too many carbohydrates in the diet can lead to obesity, with serious consequences for rabbits.
Fat
In mature rabbits, fats should provide 3% of daily calorie requirements. In the case of breastfeeding, 7%. Body fats are used, among others to form hormones, cell membranes and cholesterol. In the case of fats, the most important are the so-called essential fatty acids, i.e. omega-3 and omega-6. They are mainly used to regulate blood clotting mechanisms, hormonal formation, immunity processes, blood pressure regulation, learning and memorization processes. Food fiber
The fibers are mainly cellulose and lignin, as well as pectin, migellulosis, mucopolysaccharides and inulin. They are indispensable in the correct digestion and fermentation process. Vitamins and rabbits for rabbits
It is not necessary to add vitamins and supplements to the rabbits that have an appropriate diet. Vitamins B and K are produced in microorganisms. Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, biotin, folic acid and vitamins A, D, come from the diet.

1. The soy is bad.
No, it is not. Soy is digested by 93%. It is also a good source of protein.
2. The corn is bad.
This is not. Of course, if in food there are cereals of corn not transformed into large quantities, then you must seriously think if you want to buy it. However, the correctly elaborate corn is a good source of carbohydrates. The digestibility of corn is approx. 73%.
