We must distinguish between wild rats and agricultural rats. The rats (corporate rats) are considered smarter (what we do not believe in) and more friendly with people – this is true. The farm’s mouse had the opportunity to get used to people, above all, descends from laboratory mice that have undergone many tests, crossings and this has also contributed to a more careful contact with humans. The PET rat is not a bearer of disease. How much does a mouse live? The domestic mouse has a higher immunity and lives longer than the wild rodent: it can spend up to three years with its owner. Instead, his wild cousin lives about 1.5 years.

The rats are night animals. Their activity grows after sunset. This is the moment when they start to hunt. Wild mice are found in the corners of buildings, in cellars, sewers and tensions. In the rural area, protecting from man, they hide under bed linen, he digs their jokes under the stools of the animals, buried in the bridge. The wild mouse runs away from man, only ultimately, when captured or threatened. In this case, it can bite painfully. Is it surprising?

The social life of mice

The rats are extremely intelligent. They have a very developed sense of observation: they can smell food, but also the imminent danger. They are agile, fast and, like all animals, playful. Form close groups, of a patriarchal nature. The flock is guided by a large male, but the mice would not survive if they built their communities only on the basis of monocreal power.

The rats are excellent in communicating each other and supporting each other in a group or a family. They survive due to their wisdom and the use of previous experiences, which pass from generation to generation. They communicate to each other through body language and with sounds: whistle, whistle, clash and rub the characteristic teeth. Each signal has an important content. They listen and produce ultrasound.

They have an excellent sense of smell and a sense of hearing and a well -developed touch.

Rats that nourish

They have no high requirements regarding the type of food, they are omnivorous. They feed on meat, plants, vegetables and nuts. In the cities, I reach the food we throw in the garbage.

The most popular choices are sawdust and hay. At the same time, when choosing the sawdust, be careful to make sure that there are no addition of conifers.

Pin’s sawdust is not recommended for rats, as it can cause allergies and itching, as well as liver and respiratory problems (asthma). The disadvantage of sawdust and hay is also that it does not connect the humidity and does not absorb unpleasant smells. It is more difficult to maintain hygiene in such a cottage; Of course, it is possible, but it is more dirty.

A very practical option is the agglomerating sheet, which absorbs the humidity to form easily to be removed and localized. We also recommend using corn bed linen. This litter does not cause allergies or respiratory problems, it is very hygroscopic and does not stick to the legs.
