Black cats, like few animals, evoke so many emotions when it comes to their fur color. Some associate them with misfortunes, others with happiness. There are no references to the supernatural world. Black cats can appear in different races, one of the best known is Bombay’s cat.

The cat is a mysterious animal itself and there are many myths. Not to mention the black cat. Opinions in this regard vary from one culture to another. Most of the discrepancies refer to black cats in Central Asia and Asia. Despite the myths circulating in this regard, the black fur cat is a normal pet.

Why are they black cats?

Experts distinguish between the 12 basic colors of the cat fur and, moreover, the white color, which is not really a real color. This occurs when some genes inhibit the production of pigments. Cats can have more than a dozen color types. The combination of different colors and fur allows them to take on a wide range of appearance. It must be said that, despite such a wide range of colors, two pigments are responsible for their training. All cats are black (the black gene is designated by black), unless they inherit the gender related to the genre that masks black (the red gene is designated by orange). The other colors derive from these basic colors. As a result of evolution, Alela B has undergone mutations in two new forms, i.e. Alela B and Alela BL. The first determines the color of fur chocolate and the second color of the cinnamon.

Black Cats – Do they bring bad luck?

As a rule, in European culture, black cats are said to be unfortunate, especially if they intersected on someone’s path. This is largely due to the fact that this color is associated with negative values: dark powers, supernatural forces, woven world, death, mourning, demons, conservatism. In our culture, once the black cats were attributed to contact with death or spirits. Since the twelfth century, the negative opinions on them were circulating. Pope Grigore IX even issued a law in 1233 that allowed their murder, because they were considered the help of the devil. The subsequent wave of persecution of black cats took place in the 16th century, when the extermination of black magic and the persecution of people suspected of being magicians took place.

Are black cats always seen from the point of view of bad luck? NOT. Superstitions in Asia are an example in this sense. The Japanese, for example, believe that black fur cats bring luck and that the more fur of this color, the greater the probability of being lucky. They are particularly preferred by single women, because they facilitate the search for love. In the country of cherry flowers, where black is seen as a good color, the cats of this color are attributed the ability to protect the family from evil forces.

Other superstitions relating to black cats

Popular in the culture of the Far East is the image of Maneki-Neko. This is a talisman in the form of a cat with a high -right paw, which should bring money. Although there are in different color versions, black is very popular. Maneki-Neko Nero will not only attract wealth, but will prevent negative energy. In England, among the sailors it is convinced that the presence of a black cat on board increases the probability of good weather and a safe journey. Another English superstition says that offering a black cat to a bride on the wedding day assures her luck in marriage. In the south of France, black cats are shown a special favor, because it is believed that they will reward wealth and luck.

Reasons why we choose black cats

It can be discovered that black cats have a slightly less neurotic behavior than those with other colors of the fur. In addition, they can be more predictable and balanced in their behavior. However, it should be noted that there is no conclusive scientific tests in support of these statements. For those who have not started in the care of cats, it is possible that black pet cuts the claws, who may be necessary for pets who are not outdoors and do not have the opportunity to remove the claws. In black cats, the course of the blood vessels at the base of the claws is more visible. It is impossible not to raise practical problems. Lovers and, at the same time, black in the wardrobe or in the interior design, opting for a cat of this color, will certainly have less problems with the birth of unwanted hair. It is worth noting that white cats and all black cats have the softer fur. They are very popular among people with artistic soul, because black is the color of power, mystery and magic.

There are several breeds of black cats and among the best known there are:

• The Norwegian forest cat,
• Sphynx,
• British cat with long hair,
• Maine Coon,
• Siberian cat,
• And above all, the Bombay cat, which is compared with the black panther. It is considered one of the smallest feline breeds and the owner of a deep black color.
