Combat fish is often found in domestic aquariums. For its impressive appearance, it is a piece of decoration for the aquarium. It is interesting for many Acquarists, but it is not recommended for beginners breeders. In order to multiply it, it is not necessary to know which fish will accept the fighter. What else is it worth knowing?
Combat fish is sometimes called «king of the water of the aquarium», for its popularity. There are different species of this fish but pThe Easts fighter Siamez is undoubtedly the most common in the aquarium. Find out what conditions you should give these fish in the aquarium and with what other animals you can combine.
Combat fish – Basic information
Siamez Fighter Fish is a kind of fish for which the name Betta is used. There are fresh water fish in the form of a bib, which are part of the Guramine family. In nature, they are in particular in the southern Asia region. These can be found in the waters of Pakistan, India, Korea and Malaysian peninsula. There are many species within the genre and some of the most popular are the colored fighter, the Nano fighter and the Edith fighter.
The most common in aquariums are the species of combat fish, also known as Siamez. The first copies of this species appeared in Europe at the end of the nineteenth century. It was transported to Paris, from which reproduction on the rest of the continent was made popular. What does combat fish have? The males are more impressive, with longer swimmers and a wider mouth. The females, on the other hand, have a thicker belly, are equipped with an ovipozer and have a sharp muzzle. Fish can be of different colors. The most common is blue and red combat fish, although there are also green fish, yellow, even two colors.
What does fish feed on? In nature, it is a carnivorous animal, a predator. Therefore, the animal diet held in an aquarium should be based on animal food. These fish can be fed with insect larvae, small invertebrates and zooplacton. These fish can feed on sheath worms, chironomids, mosquito larvae, aquatic worms, artemia, dafnia and other species of fish. Food can be administered in different forms, including dry, frozen or freeze -dried.
What kind of fish tolerates the fighter?
First of all, it should be noted that combat fish is characterized by a very warrior arrangement, from which they also draw their names. Most species (males) are aggressive for other fighters. They can react nervously even to their reflection. You shouldn’t keep more than one male in an aquarium. Otherwise, the fish will fight each other for the domain and the territory. In many areas of Asia, these struggles are specially organized, with bets. Although the wounds on the body and on the crushed swimmers regenerated, sometimes the fish die.
The females are certainly more tolerant of each other.
How do combat relationships work with other animals? They can be kept together with fish belonging to another group but taking into account the following aspects:
● It must not be too big, because they can take the fighter as a target and the attached one will defend themselves;
● It must not be small, otherwise they will become a prey to the fighter;
● They should not be fast and mobile swimmers, because the fighters do not move for a long time and can stress.
Combat fish – Requirements
The aquarium fighter should not be kept in the so -called spheres, very small tanks, without further plants and equipment. These conditions will simply be a torment for him. In addition, it is worth remembering that a combat fish in a sphere loses its orientation and, consequently, becomes very stressed, excessively aggressive or, on the contrary, lethargic, apathetic. In order for such a fish to develop and work correctly, the right conditions must be offered.
The fighters should be kept in «corner» aquariums, that is, in square or rectangular aquariums. It should be assigned on average 4-5 liters for a male and at least 10-15 liters of aquarium for a torque. The lid tanks are needed because fish can jump.
Diseases related to the way they breathe can also be dangerous. A Betta fish – it is equipped with a vague organ, that is, a labyrinth which is an extension of the branched chamber. This allows Milfoil to partially breathe with atmospheric air. Because of this modality of breathing, it is subject to colds or bladder problems with slight changes in the temperature of water and air. Cover the aquarium to a certain extent reduces their risk.
As for water, the soft water is recommended, with a pH of 6.0-7.5 and a temperature of 25-28 ° C. Therefore, an efficient pump filter and a heater with thermostat will be a very important piece of aquarium equipment. In order to further expose the beauty of the fighters, it is recommended to equip the aquarium with a uniform and dark background and substrate. As for lighting, fish requirements are not special. The light should not be too strong or too weak. It is important that the tank contains varied and relatively dense vegetation to provide shelter, a resting place.
In the aquarium, roots, large stones or artificial decorations can also be positioned.

How long does a fight fight live?
The average life expectancy is 3-5 years. Combat fish, like other fish, are exposed to various diseases, including:
● Disease of the wing or bacterial dermatitis caused by Pseudomonas Fluorescens,
● IHTHIPHONHOSIS CAUSED BY A Parasite Mushroom that attacks the entire body of the animal, including the internal organs,
● Velvet disease, also known as oodinosis, the golden sand disease, rust disease, velvet disease, caused by protozoa of the Brucella group.
Furthermore, if the aquarium is not covered, the difference in temperature between water and air causes respiratory colds, which can cause bladder disorders.
