Chinchilla at home - How to take care of them and which cage to buy for a chinchy?

The straps have a delicate digestive system, which is why a specific diet is needed, without prohibited products.

Originally from South America, the rodent is an increasingly popular pet in people’s homes. Their extremely soft fur, soft tail, ears and big eyes make them friendly and fascinating. In fact, they are silent pets – often shy, who need a lot of activity, exercise and, preferably, the company of another cminchile.

Where does Chinchilla come from?

The ancestor of today’s domestic cminchile is Chinchilla Lanigera – Chinchilla with a small tail. A second species, chinchilla chinchilla – chinchilla shorted – is also found in nature, but it has never been tame. Initially, the cminchile could be found in a small area around the South American Andes, where the climate of the dry desert predominates.
In nature, the cminchile is exposed to great temperature fluctuations and a difficult access to food and water, so you have to be careful not to feed them too much at home.
The straps in nature are rather dwarf animals, during the day they sleep hidden in the bushes or caves – only after leaving in the evening they go to eat something, usually roots and plants seeds.

Care of the cminchile at home

Keeping a chinchillino is not demanding, but more conditions must be satisfied to make it happy.

1) What kind of cage to choose for chinchilla?

Great. They are very nervous animals and need many movements. In fact, the greater, the better it is. It is important that Chianchilla’s steering has a shelter and toys for Chinchilla, for example chewing toy toys, tunnels or a hammock. It is better that the steering was in a quiet and bright place (but not in the sun!), Given that these animals appreciate peace and sleep and sleep a lot during the day.

2) What do they eat the cminchile?

The cmincio diet must be followed strictly, because it has a very sensitive digestive system. The safest solution is to use ready -made foods, but you can treat the chinchillà with herbs and branches of fruit trees.

3) How do you take care of a chinchillino?

This is not difficult. All you have to do is wash the fur and give them a bath with special sand.

Chinchile are flock animals and feel perfectly at home in a larger group.

How to tame a chinchillino?

We have a cage, we know what to feed, but it is enough to keep our chinchillà happy and satisfied? Not too much, unfortunately, because he will miss another chinchillino to be fully happy! They are extremely sociable rodents. They like to play and make fun of, but only within their own species. And so, a man, of course, can earn trust, be happy to play with him, adapt to themselves and are very intelligent, but to fully enjoy this wonderful animal it is better to offer them the company. So we will have the opportunity to see the entire spectrum of exceptional behaviors: playing each other, teasing each other, but also a special attachment.

If you want to tame a barely purchased chinchillino, it is worth giving time and remembering it is a shy animal speech, let it be observed, but not take it immediately. Unfortunately, many straps do not like to be comforted – with the great dissatisfaction of their masters, because anyone who touches this soft fur can even resist to offer them more comfort. Turn a chin can take one day, a month or even more, but patience is essential. It is certainly easier to tame the fear of a chin that has a company.

It is also worth remembering that they are animals with a long life. How long does a chinchillino live? In domestic conditions, about 20 years old! This is a very long period of time, so the decision to buy such an animal must be well thought out.
